# FAQ

Quick answers to common questions about Scholars.

## I signed up with email but did not receive the login email. What should I do?

Wait a few minutes, check that you entered the correct email address, and try signing in again from [app.scholars.net/account/login](https://app.scholars.net/account/login).

For more detail, see [Create your account](/how-to/create-your-account.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## I signed up with Google. Can I also log in with email?

Yes, as long as you enter the email address that belongs to your Google account.

For more detail, see [Create your account](/how-to/create-your-account.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## Do I need to complete my profile to apply to projects?

No, but a fuller profile increases your chances of being selected for projects.

For more detail, see [Onboarding](/info/onboarding.md#frequently-asked-questions) and [Complete your profile](/how-to/complete-your-profile.md).

## Why do I not see any jobs available?

Jobs are location-dependent, and there may not be available jobs for your location yet.

For more detail, see [Apply for a job](/how-to/apply-for-a-job.md#frequently-asked-questions) and [Jobs](/info/jobs.md).

## I applied for a job but have not heard back. What should I do?

This is normal. There is nothing additional you need to do unless you receive an offer or a follow-up message.

For more detail, see [Apply for a job](/how-to/apply-for-a-job.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## Why does Scholars say my profile is under review?

Your account has been temporarily suspended while the Scholars team reviews it. You can still sign in and view most information, but you cannot apply for jobs, accept offers, submit timesheets, update your profile, or take assessments while the review is active. Any pending timesheets and invoices will also be reviewed.

If you believe this is a mistake or need more information, email <ask.scholars@imerit.net>.

## Why has my Scholars account been blocked?

A blocked account can no longer access the Scholars platform. When you sign in, Scholars takes you to a blocked-account notice instead of the application.

If you believe this is a mistake or need help, email <ask.scholars@imerit.net>.

## Can I take assessments on my phone or tablet?

No. Assessments must be taken on a desktop computer.

For more detail, see [Take an assessment](/how-to/take-an-assessment.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## Can I retake assessments?

It depends on the assessment. The creator of each assessment decides whether retakes are allowed.

For more detail, see [Take an assessment](/how-to/take-an-assessment.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## Do I need identity verification to work on projects?

Most projects require identity verification, so we strongly recommend completing it.

For more detail, see [Verify your identity](/how-to/verify-your-identity.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## How long does identity verification stay pending?

Allow up to two days for the status to update. If it has not changed after two days, email <ask.scholars@imerit.net> and include your full name and the personal email address you use for Scholars.

For more detail, see [Verify your identity](/how-to/verify-your-identity.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## What should I do if identity verification fails or I no longer have the ID I used?

Go to [Payouts & Verification](https://app.scholars.net/talent/profile?tab=payment-tax), choose *Verify identity*, and try again. You can retry up to three times when your verification has failed or expired.

If you no longer have your driver's license, or it has expired, use another accepted government-issued ID shown in the verification flow. If you cannot retry, email <ask.scholars@imerit.net> and include your full name and the personal email address you use for Scholars.

For more detail, see [Verify your identity](/how-to/verify-your-identity.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## I have a workspace account, but I did not receive the email with my temporary password. What should I do?

Go to [app.scholars.net/talent/profile?tab=account](https://app.scholars.net/talent/profile?tab=account) and click *Reset workspace password*.

For more detail, see [Use your workspace account](/how-to/use-your-workspace-account.md).

## How should I track breaks?

Stop the timer when you start your break, then start the timer again when you finish your break.

For more detail, see [Track the time spent on a job](/how-to/track-the-time-spent-on-a-job.md#frequently-asked-questions).

## Does Scholars pay my taxes for me?

No. Scholars does not deduct taxes from your payments. You are responsible for following your local tax rules.

For more detail, see [Taxes](/info/taxes.md).

## Where do I set up my tax information?

Go to your profile, open *Payouts & Verification*, and select the payment provider used for your offer.

For detailed instructions, see [Set up your tax information](/how-to/set-up-your-tax-information.md).

## How long does a tax form stay pending?

If you submitted a W9, taxpayer identification number (TIN) checks run daily around 5:00 PM Eastern Time. A complete and valid W8-BEN can be approved automatically soon after submission.

If your status has not changed after two days, email <ask.scholars@imerit.net> and include your full name and the personal email address you use for Scholars.

For more detail, see [Taxes](/info/taxes.md#what-happens-after-i-submit-my-tax-form).

## Why was my taxpayer identification number not accepted?

Go to [Payouts & Verification](https://app.scholars.net/talent/profile?tab=payment-tax), click *Update payment & tax details*, and submit the tax form again. Check that your taxpayer identification number (TIN) is complete and correct and that your full address and other details match your official records. Scholars also emails you when a tax form is rejected and explains what needs attention.

For more detail, see [Taxes](/info/taxes.md#why-was-my-taxpayer-identification-number-not-accepted) and [Set up your tax information](/how-to/set-up-your-tax-information.md).

## How can I add a Revolut bank account from another country?

Open *Profile* > *Payouts & Verification* and choose *Update payment & tax details*. Inside Trolley, temporarily change your profile country to the country of your Revolut bank account, add and save the account, then restore your actual country in the Trolley profile before leaving the setup.

This change is made only inside Trolley. Keep your country of work in *Profile* > *Work Authorization* accurate throughout.

For detailed instructions, see [Add a Revolut bank account from another country](/how-to/set-up-your-banking-information.md#add-a-revolut-bank-account-from-another-country).

## How do I download my invoices?

For jobs that use Trolley, go to *Profile* > [Payouts & Verification](https://app.scholars.net/talent/profile?tab=payment-tax) and click *Update payment & tax details*. Under *Recent Payments*, click *View & Download PDF* next to the payment you need.

For detailed instructions, see [How do I download my invoices?](/how-to/get-paid.md#how-do-i-download-my-invoices).

## Can I receive payments in USD if my local currency is different?

In some countries, yes. If USD is not available in your payout settings, email <ask.scholars@imerit.net> to ask whether USD payments can be enabled for your account.

We recommend receiving payments in your local currency to help avoid banking fees. Receiving USD when it is not your local currency may incur a fee on every payment. In Trolley, review *Estimated Fees* for your selected payout method and currency before saving your bank details.

For more detail, see [Check your payout currency and estimated fees](/how-to/set-up-your-banking-information.md#check-your-payout-currency-and-estimated-fees).
